Doug Sweetland’s career took off like a shot when, at just 19, he joined Pixar as an animator on Toy Story. From there, he honed his chops on A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Cars, earning back-to-back Annie Awards for his animation along the way.

In 2008, Doug made his directorial debut with Pixar’s Presto, a Looney Tunes-inspired romp about a selfish magician, his rebellious rabbit, and—naturally—portals. The short premiered alongside WALL-E and screened at festivals around the globe, earning accolades as well as Annie and Oscar nominations for Doug.

In 2010, Sweetland left Pixar for Hollywood. He worked at Sony Pictures Animation, developing a film under the guidance of directing hero Sam Raimi, before moving on to Warner Brothers to co-direct the alt-comedy Storks with Nick Stoller. In between, he teamed up with Ratatouille creator Jan Pinkava to help launch the award-winning VR series Google Spotlight Stories (for which Doug holds a patent) and continues to work in emerging tech with his fellow Pixar alums at DigitalFish.

Doug is incredibly proud of the tattoos his work has inspired (he’s googled them). He’s been caricatured in MAD magazine (swoon!), inspired Halloween costumes (based on his appearance in The Pixar Story), and even has a student film in MoMA’s permanent collection.

With 30 years of industry experience and relationships, Doug brings a singular knack for entertainment value, razor-sharp acting skills, Pixar-trained storytelling instincts, and a broad range of production expertise—from in-house roles to client/vendor collaborations, as well as independent projects. He has also ventured into the future of storytelling, exploring VR, AR, and mixed reality.

Currently, Doug directs branded content with Psyop while also working as an independent creator and director.
